About Maren Keeley
Maren is Senior Research Associate at 1PointSix LLC. She has dedicated her career to paving the way for a better future through business. In addition to her work with 1PointSix, Maren is the founder of Handprint.io, an innovative hiring platform serving people-first impact companies. Out beta-stage software (full launch 2024) leverages AI-driven matching technology to connect people to career opportunities at impact companies based on the science of engagement. Previously, Maren co-founded Conscious Company Media where she and her team shared inspiring, cutting-edge stories about business as a force for good across multiple media channels including events, webinars, digital content, and our flagship, nationally distributed print magazine (exit in 2018). She served on the Board of the American Sustainable Business Institute from 2017-2020, and her graduate research work was with B Lab US, focused on their certification scheme and user adoption.
It’s no coincidence that Terry and Maren share a last name. Terry is Maren’s uncle. While they never expected their professional paths to cross, in 2021 while Terry was writing Sustainable, he shared a draft copy with Maren due to her decade-long interest in sustainable business as a lever to drive change.
At baseline, Terry’s views and beliefs about business and the role of the private sector are more conservative, whereas Maren’s are quite liberal and progressive. However, as Maren poured over the pages of Terry’s book she was surprised and delighted to find there was more convergence than divergence in their views and opinions. This sparked further dialogue, hearty debate, and deepened respect.
After additional feedback about the book, Terry’s business concept and website, he invited Maren to join him in making 1PointSix a reality.
